The TCPware for OpenVMS Version 5.6 evaluation software kit is available via the Process Software anonymous FTP server on the Internet.

To get the kit, you can either use your browser or follow the FTP downloading instructions.

Downloading via the World-Wide Web

  1. View the release notes.
  2. Download TCPware for OpenVMS Alpha AXP kit (22 MB ZIP file).
  3. Download TCPware for OpenVMS VAX kit (11 MB ZIP file).
  4. Download TCPware for OpenVMS documentation (HTML format; 4 MB ZIP file).
  5. Download TCPware for OpenVMS documentation (PDF format; 6 MB ZIP file).
  6. Download TCPware for OpenVMS documentation (Postscript format; 15 MB ZIP file).
  7. Download UNZIP for Alpha AXP systems (125 KB file) or
    Download UNZIP for VAX systems (145 KB file).

Downloading via FTP

  1. Start FTP and connect to the server (type: ftp ftp.process.com).
  2. Login as anonymous (type: anonymous).
  3. Use your email address as the password (type: me@mydomain).
  4. Use the CD command to get to the TCPWARE directory (type: cd tcpware).
  5. Use the CD command to get to the VMS directory (type: cd vms).
    Please note that you will be unable to list the contents of this directory!
  6. Set the transfer mode to image (type: type image).
  7. Get the TCPware kit (ZIP file), type: get TCPWARE056-2845-ALPHA.ZIP or TCPWARE056-2845-VAX.ZIP.
  8. Get the TCPware postscript documentation (ZIP file) if desired, type: get TCPWARE054-DOC.ZIP.
  9. Get the UNZIP program if you don't already have it.
    For VAX, type: get UNZIP-VAX.EXE.
    For Alpha, type: get UNZIP-ALPHA.EXE.
  10. Exit from FTP (type: quit).

Installing TCPware for OpenVMS

After downloading the TCPware ZIP file and UNZIP program:
  1. Define the UNZIP foreign command:
    For VAX, type: UNZIP :== $device:[directory]UNZIP-VAX
    For Alpha, type: UNZIP :== $device:[directory]UNZIP-ALPHA
  2. UNZIP the TCPware kit, type: UNZIP TCPWARE056-2845-ALPHA.ZIP or UNZIP TCPWARE056-2845-VAX.ZIP.
  3. UNZIP the TCPware postscript documentation (if obtained), type: UNZIP TCPWARE054-DOC.ZIP.
  4. Install the TCPware for OpenVMS product using VMSINSTAL. For complete installation instructions, refer to the TCPware for OpenVMS Installation & Configuration Guide.

Please note that a temporary evaluation LMF PAK is installed for you during installation. This LMF PAK expires on 15-MAY-2005.

You can also view the TCPware Installation & Configuration Guide online; however, note that this is for an earlier version of TCPware, Version 5.1, and is a work in progress.
