The World Wide Web is described starting from its inception to its use today. This book includes information about the tools you need to use the Web, and the software you need to be familiar with to use Web servers and browsers.
The Purveyor WebServer is Process Softwares World Wide Web server system for OpenVMS. Included is how to install, configure, and manage the Purveyor WebServer.
This guide is for anyone planning to use the Purveyor Encrypt WebServer for OpenVMS regardless of their experience with Web servers. Typical users include:
You must have either administrator privileges or manage your own system to install and configure Purveyor.

You can use this guide in several ways, depending on your familiarity with Web server administration and your plans for using Purveyor.
If you have only some experience with managing servers, its a good idea to start by reading the chapters in Part I that describe World Wide Web protocols and standards before you configure your server. These chapters also provide useful reference material for daily use of your server.
If you want to install and run Purveyor right away, you can skip to Part III for instructions on how to configure the basic server. This section provides all the information you need to install the server and to begin serving documents.
Part III also describes Purveyors powerful advanced features that let you create a multiserver environment on a single machine, manage the server from remote locations, and channel Internet requests from your local area network through the server.
