	NTP Patch kit (revision 1.0) for TCPware V5.8   	   9-Nov-2009

        Copyright (c) 2007, 2009 by Process Software Corporation

	This VMSinstallable saveset provides a patched version of NTP for
	TCPware 5.8 and 5.7 for OpenVMS.  NTP must be shut down before
	installing. This patch supports TCPware V5.8 and V5.7 on all supported
	versions of OpenVMS.

        This patch kit provides the following files:
		NTPD.EXE
		NTPDATE.EXE
		NTPDC.EXE
		NTPQ.EXE
		NTP_LIBLOCK.EXE
		NTPTRACE.EXE

        The following changes have been made:

    -	Correct a potential denial of service attack.
	ECO Rank: 0 NTP-V582P010 DE 10922

    -	NTPQ and NTPDC now try each of the answers returned by getaddrinfo
	until they successfully establish a connection or run out of answers.


	The old version of the .EXE FILES will be renamed to 
	TCPWARE_COMMON:[TCPWARE]*.EXE_OLD.

	After installing the patch restart NTP with
	@TCPWARE:RESTART NTP

	Once installed, you may undo this patch by shutting down NTP,
	renaming the following files and restarting NTP:

	    Rename			    To
	    ----------------		    ------------
	    NTPD.EXE_OLD		    NTPD.EXE
	    NTPDATE.EXE_OLD		    NTPDATE.EXE
	    NTPDC.EXE_OLD		    NTPDC.EXE
	    NTPQ.EXE_OLD		    NTPQ.EXE
	    NTP_LIBLOCK.EXE_OLD		    NTP_LIBLOCK.EXE
	    NTPTRACE.EXE_OLD                NTPTRACE.EXE

	Note that all files are in TCPWARE_COMMON:[TCPWARE].

        For systems running TCPware 5.7-2 DRIVERS_V572P030 must also be
	installed for any VAX version of VMS and Alpha V6 for NTP to work
	correctly.
