Is there an way like unix to reread the files and check the zones if secondary. best regards robert ================================================================================ Archive-Date: XXX, 17 Feb 1997 18:20:37 GMT Subject: Detecting broken connections. Message-ID: <5ea7hl$s1r@chronicle.concentric.net> From: Pkrupa@cris.com (PETER KRUPA) Date: 17 Feb 1997 18:20:37 GMT TCPware for OpenVMS v5.1 Programmer's Guide: "IO$_SENSEMODE | IO$_ATTNAST - Requests the delivery of an attention AST whenever urgent data is available or the connection is broken." I'm using VAX/VMS v6.1, Ada 3.0, and QIOs to communicate with a device. By having it send its data as urgent I'm able to receive ASTs in my Ada task notifying me of a pending message. But if I power down the device or disconnect the Ethernet cable I never receive a notification. Is there some connection characteristic I need to set to receive notification? Would it be the SO_KEEPALIVE? Thanks for your assistance. So, if your application is idle, you need to have something generate traffic. Keepalives are used for exactly this purpose. So, yes, you want to set the SO_KEEPALIVE option. You also want to set a connection timeout value. It sounds like you are using the TCPDRIVER $QIO interface, so you should issue a IO$_SETMODE|IO$M_CTRL function with a PID of 4 and the connection timeout value you want. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Geoff Bryant bryant@process.com TCPware Engineering Process Software Corporation http://www.process.com/ 959 Concord St. Framingham, MA 01701 USA ================================================================================ Archive-Date: Mon, 24 Feb 1997 11:58:50 -0500 Subject: University Alliance Program Message-ID: <3311C8CA.67C@process.com> From: James Gildea Date: Mon, 24 Feb 1997 11:58:50 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello: Process Software is making a new commitment to the educational community with the introduction of our new University Alliance Program. Under this program, we are extending significant dicounts on TCPware and Purveyor licenses, documentation, and services to colleges and universities. Universities can now affordably purchase TCPware and Purveyor for use in either the classroom or in an administrative setting. For example, a 25 system TCPware license for VAX or Alpha only costs $2,000, and it includes a full year of technical support and software updates. Technical support and software updates can be renewed yearly for only $650. Process Software is also offering a free Purveyor Encrypt WebServer license to universities that purchase a TCPware University Alliance license by March 17, 1997. Process Software feels that this is an excellent opportunity that most colleges and universities can benefit from. For more information on the program and enrollment procedures check our web page, www.process.com, or call 800 722-7770, extension 572 or 543. This program is available to institutions in North, Central and South America only.
