One of our vendors decided to use Remote Procedure Calls instead of SCSI to connect their box to our VAX/VMS system. We needed a TCP/IP networking product so we bought TCPWARE. We mainly use the RPC and FTP components of the product. We have managed to transfer data between two systems at better than 10 KBytes/Second, using a prototype of our system. We haven't attempted to measure the ultimate levels of data transfer, yet. This level of performance is good enough for us. So far, this product appears to run faithfully and well, even when used by VMS programmers who couldn't even spell UNIX one month ago. clark_mk@ftsd.llnl.gov (Mike Clark) Judgement comes from experience. You can use Matt Madison's NSQUERY from public.tgv.com [.madison.nsquery] or from nic.switch.ch /mirror/vms/spc/madison/nsquery. It is not exactly nslookup, but some sort of. You will also need NETLIB (same servers) to install it. However. Nowhere on the "page" of the reviewing magazine is there an author, title, or magazine name. Further, there is no indication in the ad of where this is reprinted from and if further reprints are available. Is this something the Process Software Marketing people made up or is there really this glowing review. If the latter, where is it? Oh yeah, Bernie say hi to Jack/John and Janice for me.
