A DHCP server dynamically allocates IP addresses for client host nodes from an available pool of addresses. In this way, new hosts or hosts that are frequently relocated can automatically get new IP addresses for a certain lease period. This session describes how DHCP works and how it is used to supply other client information such as the addresses of name servers and routers. This session also examines DHCP client and server configuration and management techniques.
